  • Tropical mussels and fruits in Brandenburg

    Exhibition Słońsk – Station 9:

    The panel shows the image of a decorative ornamental element of the castle façade. The shell is in relief so that blind and visually impaired people can feel the structure. The text on the plaque is also in Braille.

    On the front façade of the palace, under the windows of the upper floor, there are three decorative motifs (festoons) depicting floral arrangements with exotic fruits, flowers and shells from other parts of the world.

    They refer to the successful past of Johann Moritz von Nassau-Siegen in Brazil and are probably unique in this form in historical Brandenburg. Similar decorative motifs can also be found on the Mauritshuis in The Hague, the former residence of Johann Moritz.
