  • The former castle garden

    Exhibition Słońsk – Station 12:

The panel shows a view of the former extensive garden behind the castle.

Prime example of baroque garden architecture of the 16th century in Europe

The magnificent palace garden, once about 12 acres (approx. 30 ha) in size, extended behind the palace on a quadrangular island lined with rows of trees and surrounded by canals.

The layout followed a strictly geometrical order in which palace and garden were closely linked. The centrally located oval basin was still preserved into the 20th century.
