The ruins of the Johanniter castle in Sonnenburg, now Słońsk in Poland, were developed for tourism from 2019 to 2023 as part of a German-Polish cultural project of the INTERREG VA Brandenburg-Lubuskie European cooperation programme and integrated into the new tourism brand “Traces of the Knights of St. John”.
Station 1 provides an overview of the location and contents of the panels of the permanent exhibition, which are distributed at and in the castle ruins.
12 further stations provide information, some of it interactive, on the history of the castle and the Order of the Knights of St John, which had a decisive influence on and shaped the Oder-Warthe region over centuries.
