About 20 km northeast of Łagów is the town of Sulęcin (Zielenzig). In 1244 the town came to the Order of the Knights Templar, and in 1312 to the Order of St. John. From 1350 to 1810, the town remained under the administration of the Knights of St John. Several buildings and the St John’s cross in the town’s coat of arms are reminders of this today. The former house of the Order of St John (Dom Joannitów) was built around 1536 and is one of the oldest houses in the town. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the medieval city wall. The building was rebuilt in the classicist style around 1900 and houses the Centre for German-Polish Cooperation and a home for the elderly.
